Troubleshooting information for the website and Chrome extension.
A PDF will not open
Confirm that it is a valid, unencrypted PDF. Password-protected, encrypted, damaged, or unusually encoded documents may be rejected. Try opening and resaving the document in a trusted PDF application.
A large merge is slow
Rendering and merging use your device memory. Try fewer files at a time, close memory-heavy tabs, or use a desktop browser. The website accepts up to 20 PDFs per selection, 250 MB per file, and 500 MB per batch.
Free merge is gone / purchase not unlocked
The free Merge & Download is stored in this browser only. Clearing site data resets that soft trial. Lifetime access is attached to your signed-in email after Stripe confirms payment via webhook—open your account a minute after checkout. For the extension, pair with a code from the popup after purchase.
Saved files differ between the extension and website
This is expected. Browsers isolate extension storage from website storage for security. Opening the web app never transfers files from the extension; select them again on the website.

PDF Merger does not provide OCR, compression, page rotation, password removal, or preservation guarantees for digital signatures, forms, attachments, bookmarks, or document metadata.
